The Connor Brothers: a new collaboration

Trium Art Gallery is proud to announce a new collaboration with The Connor Brothers, the British duo whose unconventional journey has made them one of the most intriguing presences in the contemporary art landscape.

Their career began under the veil of a fabricated biography: presented as American twins who had escaped from a religious cult, the artists fascinated audiences with works that seemed to embody both trauma and liberation. The truth, revealed later, was no less compelling: behind the pseudonym stand Mike Snelle and James Golding, two former art dealers who transformed their own personal struggles with mental health and addiction into a body of work that is both sophisticated and profoundly human.

The Connor Brothers’ practice is grounded in a dialogue between illusion and authenticity. By appropriating and reimagining the aesthetics of pulp novels and mid-century popular culture, they construct narratives that are ironic on the surface yet deeply critical beneath, inviting viewers to reconsider what we call reality. In their own words, making art has offered them “an unexpected foundation for a healthier mental life, and the courage to bring into the public sphere a conversation about addiction, fragility, and the transformative role of creativity.”

This duality – between myth and confession, fiction and truth – defines their contribution to the international art scene.
