Banksy & Friends: storie di artisti ribelli

From November 15, the city of Turin will host a one-of-a-kind exhibition at the Promotrice delle Belle Arti. This exhibition, Banksy & Friends: Stories of Rebel Artists, narrates contemporary times through the eyes of some of the most influential living artists.

With over eighty works, the exhibition encapsulates the essence of contemporary art today, presenting to the public beloved artists such as Banksy, Jago, and TvBoy, alongside internationally renowned names like Liu Bolin, David LaChapelle, Takashi Murakami, Sara Pope, Mr. Brainwash, Damien Hirst, Obey, Patrizia Casagranda, and Kaws. The exhibition also features prominent Italian artists including Angelo Accardi, John Blond, MaPo, Ozmo, Mimmo Rotella, Laurina Paperina, Nello Petrucci, Rizek, and Giuseppe Veneziano.

These artists are champions of a public and social art that speaks to a contemporary reality shared by all. Their work has become an accessible and direct language of expression, protest, and introspection, allowing viewers to relate to their message.

Curated by Piernicola Maria Di Iorio and produced by Next Events in collaboration with Piuma and Arthemisia, the exhibition tells “countercurrent” stories, engaging the observer on themes of life, death, social injustice, and war, conveyed with wit, lyrical finesse, or at times, bold confrontation.

Trium Art Gallery proudly contributes to this significant museum exhibition by lending five prestigious works by Mimmo Rotella, Sara Pope, and Patrizia Casagranda, which perfectly align with the exhibition’s theme. Among these, a notable décollage by Mimmo Rotella, two pieces by Sara Pope exploring the power of imagery and sensuality, and two works by Patrizia Casagranda, celebrated for their profound symbolic charge and refined mixed-media technique. This contribution reflects our commitment to supporting internationally relevant cultural projects and fostering dialogue between art and contemporary society.

The exhibition’s message – never banal or predictable – provokes thought, stirs emotions, and challenges conventions, breaking away from the classical boundaries of the art world and its consumption. It rejects the idea of an exclusive, closed system.

Ironically, these once-rebellious artists have become icons, highly sought-after and increasingly central to the interest of contemporary art audiences and museums.
