Stanze (Soma) marks a turn inward: it is as though stepping inside an earlier painting, where tangled forms that once seemed to obstruct the view now open onto a different kind of landscape. Fragments of that earlier chaos – the constellations, the tangled growth – are gathered and held within a room, named for the color that defines it.
As the artist writes: “A fragment of chaos, gathered and kept – no longer seeking a home in the landscape, but bringing the landscape home, where painting becomes something looked at daily.”
Soma, Stanze belongs to this new body of work, developed alongside – not in place of – the artist’s ongoing earlier practice.
