Pino Pinelli (1938–2024) was an Italian artist central to the Analytical Art movement. Born in Catania and relocating to Milan in the 1960s, Pinelli challenged the conventions of painting by breaking apart the canvas and fragmenting works into individual elements placed directly on the wall—an approach that radically transformed the experience of visual art. His monochromatic, tactile works, conceived as “dispersions” of color, delve into the essence of painting and create a unique dialogue between space, form, and material.
Throughout his career, Pinelli exhibited at prestigious institutions, including participation in the Venice Biennale, and held major shows in Italy and abroad. His works are held in collections such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Museo del Novecento in Milan.
