Etsu Egami

Etsu Egami is one of the most distinctive voices of the new generation of contemporary Japanese artists. Raised between different cultures, she studied at the Karlsruhe University of Arts (Germany) and the Central Academy of Fine Arts (Beijing), building a solid international foundation. Her works, which explore communication barriers and the process of misunderstandings, are expressed through various media, including vocal recordings, video, and painting, gaining significant success both in Japan and internationally.

Throughout her career, Etsu Egami has participated in major international exhibitions, such as the VOCA Exhibition 2020 at the Ueno Royal Museum in Tokyo, where artists like Takashi Murakami and Yoshitomo Nara also showcased their work. She has also exhibited at the Woodone Museum of Art in Japan and the Nassima Landau Foundation in Israel. Her works are part of prestigious collections, including those of the He Art Museum and the Central Academy of Fine Arts Museum.

In 2021, Egami was included in Forbes Asia 30 Under 30, a recognition of her talent and impact on the international art scene. She also received the award for Best Artist in 2023, further solidifying her prominent position in contemporary art.
